Offline | I want to try this conversion too! Trouble is, I spoke to my Mini dealer about the parts and they said that cars with a build date of September 2003 and before would also require a "module change", although no-one could actually tell me what this might involve ! (my cars build date is Aug 2003) Anyone got any ideas? |

Offline | HAHA, wonder what the biggest bump gap is, lol?! I was just wondering if there were any peeps out there who has a pre Sept 03 Mini, which had changed there lights - without having to have this 'module change?' |

Offline | You'd be surprised, and some never get done, some of those classics are in barns for years and then someone finds them. I have done plenty of light conversions on MINIs, 2001-2004 and the only module the lights go through is the Body Control Unit (apart from switches, fuse box etc...) and that doesn't need changing just to do the rear lights or halogen front lights (xenon lights I'm not sure (may need changing)), it's just a simple wire change over for rear lights whether you chop & join or buy the wiring kit from BMW, maybe by module change they just meant the lights / wiring ? .I always do the chop & join near the Body Control Unit making a very neat job, but it is easier doing it at the rear nearer the lights .In one of the BMW accessories books (upgrade tail lights) it just says for cars up to 07/04 no mention of modules? .Anybody unsure of wiring should either buy the wiring kit or get an auto electrician to sort it out.![]() ![]() ![]() Destined to live life £5 behind. Offline | Thanks for that info? Do we know how much this adapter is? And is it possible to buy it from other parts stores- Hopefully would be cheap than buying it from BMW!!! |

Offline | Sorry I don't know (never bought or priced one), BMW only I think, some of the MINI stores will probably do them, never shopped around as it is simple to do, (It's easy to say "it's easy" when you know how). I think that this may refer to the front xenons as I saw a document that said you need to change the Body Control Unit on cars up to 09/03 when retro fitting the face-lift front xenons. ![]() ![]() ![]() Destined to live life £5 behind. Cheers for that. I'm guessing that there is a guide on here to do it? I fitted the spotlights on my own, and they haven't fallen off yet (touch wood) so I may attempt it? How many wires will i have to change over and where would the best place to do it be (nearer the front or rear of the vehicle?!) Fanks again KEL ![]() |

Offline | Follow this one done by Paul (there may be others if you search), the only thing I would do different is solder & heat-shrink the joints .As a 1st go, nearer the rear lights (it's simpler & easier to find / access the wires). Good Luck! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Destined to live life £5 behind. Disclaimer ![]() |
