Question Mudflaps naff or useful?????

Just completed spec on my cooper S. Are dealer-fit mudflaps much use, do they make any difference to the amount of road-crap that hits the car (I've gone for 17" S-Spokes).

In other words should I bother???

your experiences greatly received please.

cheers

I wouldn't put the flaps on an S

They are usefull but with 17" S spokes I don't think much be able to stop your rear end getting dirty!!

the MINI has gone...

Be fair, just wanting to cosset my new baby, if I was a stringback glove/labrador man I'd undoubtedly be trying to source a good mini traveller, complete with magic tree air freshener!!

I've now got the front mudflaps installed on my U.S. MINI Cooper. They came from England -- not available in the U.S. yet. Photos to come, I hope.

I like them. They look like they belong on the car, and they should help with the side window splash-ups, I think. It's also neat to have perhaps the only U.S. MINI with official MINI mudflaps.

Here are some photos of the official MINI front mudflaps installed on my U.S. MINI Cooper. I had them shipped from the U.K. (thanks, Martyn!), then Patrick MINI installed them. (Either Patrick MINI deciphered the German instructions, or they were able to pull the instructions off the MINI shop CD. I'm betting the latter. ) The mudflaps are not available in the U.S. MINI accessories catalog, so I might have the only U.S. MINI right now with these mudflaps.

I've noticed that the side windows get lots of splashed mud after extended driving on a wet and dirty highway. Hopefully these mudflaps will keep the windows clear.

I'm still trying to decide whether I should put the rear mudflaps on. There's not really a visibility problem there, thanks to the rear wiper and washer. Also, I think they might look out of place. Any opinions?
