Sunroof Satisfaction Poll!

I've read a few threads on the stock sunroofs and thought I'd conduct a poll out of interest. It seems that they tend to rattle and squeak however I got the impression that most owners with sunroofs would still opt for them even with their rattles and shakes.

Therefore if your mini has a factory sunroof please participate...

Thanks..

Mick

UPDATE!!!! Twas late when I came up with this... In relation to 04 or 05 models the ' OR EARLIER' doesn't relate..The 'or earlier' is for the 03 or earlier...Cheers!

Had three MINIs last two with sunroofs. First one rattled but was easily repaired with help from this forum. It was the flappy wind deflectors
Worse problem I had with the first car with a sunroof though was the constantly sagging blind. This never did get sorted

MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime

My '03 Sunroof has a bit of an intermittent rattle but tbh I dont use the sunroof that often..... I find the damn thing too noisy when its open.................!

I like the light it lets in the car, but I think if I were speccing a car would have to think long and hard about speccing one..... I think the money could be better spent elsewhere

what do y'all think about the sunroof shade not having an opaque option

I like the mesh shade cutting down most of the light and reducing glare, but I find that when the sun is overhead, the sun comes right through very strongly and causes too much glare for my liking.

I wish that there was an opque shade option............ and that would help with the car getting too hot while parked midday in the summer....preferably one that would still let me have the option of still having the mesh shade to use too, depending on how high the sun is.................do many of you all out there agree with me?

Also voted. The sunroof is an excellent addition, and as long as there is sun, mine is open, even in the winter.

But! There are all sorts of weird random rattles which come and go.

Sunroof adds to the car

I have an 02 S with sunroof. I had squeak noises and rattles, but they were sorted out by the dealer. I enjoy it. I love the mesh screen, wouldn't want it to be opaque. Makes noise when open on the highway and I'm thinking about getting a wind-deflector.

To DeniseK:

Yeah DeniseK, but don't you wish that you could still use the mesh shade most of the time but be able to use an opaque shade just for those times when the sun is overhead and coming through, and for those hot summer days when your car is parked in the sun??

thanks to all who have participated so far. At this early stage only one person wouldn't recommend a sunroof!!

I love the sunroof but find it to be noisy at highway speeds. I am planning on getting a deflector for it. I also would like there to be a solid cover for the sunroof to cut down on the heat from the sun. When I got my windows tinted I wondered if it would help to get to sunroof tinted with a very dark tint. Has anyone tinted their sunroof?

My 2003 Cooper sunroof rattled
It was fixed the first time
and I would, of course, recommend a sunroof

so far it 'appears' that the rattle problem might have been sorted in the later models.. ie. after '03 as the poll shows a lot few respondents had trouble with those later cars...

so...are most people happy with the sunroof having just a mesh shade and not an opaque shade also?
