Question 05 chrome grill surround on 02 cooper s ?

Has anyone put the new 05 chrome grill surround of an mcs onto a non facelift mcs, in my case 02 ?

I have been told by the dealer that they wont fit because the bumpers are different, but I probably believe them around 10% as they havent got a great track record of telling me the right info.

If they do fit then has anyone got part numbers ? Its only the chrome grill surround that I am after, I have body colour slats of the grill.

I have tried search with no avail so thanks everyone for their help.

Blake.

You cant order the surrounds on their own, you have to order the entire grille.

Thumbs up Update

I obviously talked to a different parts guy today, who was under the impression that the grills were only available all in chrome in the first place. Finally got some part numbers out of him.

Bonnet chrome surround : 51137 133845 around 22.30 + vat
Bumper chrome surround : 51117 127931 around 13.62 + vat

Hmmmm... when my 2002 Cooper's grilles were replaced, the chrome surrounds came seperately and had different part no.'s. Did they change that on the 2004/2005 face lifted cars?

At first my parts guy told me i could buy them separately because he had the numbers....he then called back the next day saying he could only order them as a set with the slats....so i now have extra chrome slats...and painted my old ones...here is a pic

Cool, I was just about to ask this... I want my chrome bits (below) to look like this (below x2).

However, I want to keep my own Indi Blue grille slats. So will I have to order the entire grille and repaint the new slats, or can I keep my existing slats? Make sense???

Cheers Liam

That's what I was told, and why I'm waiting on some "smoothie" indi blue specials. Not so hard if you haven't got a discontinued colour though!

I really like the look of the smoother grille with less slats. I was thinking of getting a Cooper S grille but my dealer refuses to supply any Cooper S parts. So as my car is solid black anyway thinking of getting the '05 Mini One grille fitted, I looked at one and the black slats look shiny anyway - what do you think? See 'before' pic below...

I doubt it, but does anyone know if it'd be possible to use the smooth chrome surrounds with the aero grills? If you can that might be my new project.

Sorted!

I got an "old" grille from an Aussie MINI2er that fitted his 05 car with the Aero kit. Just took off the chrome bits and fitted them to my car. With the help of AndrewH.

Can't be many IB MINIs with this grille surround.

Hi - great job on the grille.

Can you tell me how to replace the lower grille chrome section. Do you have to remove the bumper. I am planning to replace my Mini One black grille with a new facelifted chrome one , but that will mean also replacing the lower section as well.

Yup, you really have to remove the bumper to do it.
