| MINI2 Regular | I think the whole car will be going back to be honest. Have had nothing but trouble from day one - wish I had kept my old one! Firstly, it took about 6 weeks and 3 visits to find the cause of the annoying rattling sound coming from the rear of the car - after having the seats and carpet out on 3 occasions they eventually found all of the 30 self-tapping screws which had been left there in the factory. Then there was the usual trouble with brake lights sticking on... Most recently there has been the trouble of the rattly/creaky dash which gets worse everytime they try to fix it! It is currently with the dealer - haven't seen it for a week!! My solicitor advises trying to reject it... 54 Cooper, BEP/Black, Chilli Pack, ASC+T, SS+, Alarm, CD Boost, 16" FIN Alloys, Anthracite Headlining, Xenons, Multi-function S/Wheel, Driving Lamps, sh*t build quality... ![]() Now SOLD!!! Goodbye MINIs and good riddance.... |

Offline | Chrome plating by it's nature is porous.......hence the rust you can see will be coming from the base material.......sheet steel. I agree with goonery's comments regarding "hostile" environment, but surely to "sign-off" the parts as "being fit for purpose", they would have gone though the "environmental test" at BMW. I.e. salt spray, UV testing etc. If they did, did they pass...?? If they di pass, why do they rust, and if they didn't pass, why are they on sale? IMHO, I'd have thought the casing would have been better made from plastic, to avoid all these "rusting" issues? |

| MINI2 Regular | I would agree, the same material of the front grille would surely be better? It looks the same but is never gonna rust! 54 Cooper, BEP/Black, Chilli Pack, ASC+T, SS+, Alarm, CD Boost, 16" FIN Alloys, Anthracite Headlining, Xenons, Multi-function S/Wheel, Driving Lamps, sh*t build quality... ![]() Now SOLD!!! BTW you can only anodise aluminium........it doesn't work on ferrous materials, such as steel or iron! Robert |
