United-States Painting wheel arches & side skirts without smoothing?

I saw a 300Z today and the lower body panals are painted a textured boby color. Whould it look good if I had my wheel arches and skirts painted without smoothing them? it would be a lot easier and cheaper and it would have the same texture as it does now.

United-States I would not....

...be happy with the "textured look". The painted bits should all be shiney and smooth... period. Your car will yield the most praise that way. I am willing to bet that you would be far more pleased with the refined look than with the "ricey" or "pick-up truck bed coating" look.

Also, paint will undoubtedly adhere better to a smooth surface than to a textured one.

Spend the extra cash... don't cut corners...make it look great. You will be happier in the longrun. Doing something half*ss is really not worth doing at all. Increase your car's inherent value... don't decrease it.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I have seen a lot of MINI's over here that do it without the rub down, just ensure at least 3 coats of primer, as this hides a lot of the texture and that the arches are not scratched anywhere on the surface as these will show through.

But obviously, the best result is the smooth, the one that costs the most

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?
