Offline | AFAIK, in Georgia, there is no law about the front of the car, but then we only have the rear plates normally. I see plenty of people running around with "unofficial" front plates of all sorts, and I honestly can't see how an airbrushed "Tweetybird" would be legal while a Euro-style plate wouldn't be... I don't know if NJ has fronts, too, but that would obviously put a damper on Euro-style plates... If you want to buy the plates, you can get them personalized from europlates.com or fancyplates.com, or a number of others (some of whom are probably sponsors - sorry). I ordered ours from fancyplates because they let me get away with an extra space so I could spell out "SGT PEPPER". It wouldn't be legal in the EU, but who cares ![]() The other companies only let me have 9 characters including the space, and leaving out a letter looked funny. They also have tons of custom options for logos, etc. The downside is that they're in Northern Ireland, so be prepared to wait a few weeks. But shipping is pretty reasonable (I paid $34 all up including shipping). Right now I'm waiting for a frame from europlates, since I didn't order one to begin with, and I think they look better in the frame than not. A friend from England says nobody there uses frames (there may be some differing opinions here), but I like them, so there's another $17.50 (incl. shipping). Oh, well... Enjoy! -Eric |

Offline | If you get one, make sure its a British one. There is noting more silly looking than a mini with german plates on it. Well, unless you are in Germany/ Luke UK Expat - Oi Oi 2005 DS/DS MCS |

Offline | Here in Florida we can even use euro plates in the rear, as well as old obsolete plates. The only requirement is that you order a personalized plate with the same text. Front plates are not required, so anything goes there. |

Offline | I suspect if your state requires a front plate then it would be illegal. Otherwise I don't think it matters. I got a GB tag for our MINI from www.lisenceplates.tv . Rick |

Offline | I got my plate from there too, i think, well it is http://www.licenseplates.tv. I wasnt creative enough to come up with something nifty for the front plate, so I just copied what was on my State given rear plate. It still looks sharp. 2004 MINI Cooper, Red and White bonnet stripes, Cold Weather Package |

Offline | So I know I'm a little late to jump into this thread, but I have a few questions regarding this subject... Will the dealer attach the Euro plate for you? and Where can you get a Euro-sized MINI frame for the plate??? ![]() |

Offline | Here in NC you can put anything on the front you want. Here is my tech question: I bought a Euro plate, personalized, now I find that there is no place or holes to attach the plate. I just got this '06 S Convertible last week. There are a few indentations in the front where one would go but no holes. Shatzi "give me my potato chips and no one gets hurt" |

Offline | Shatzi, there are no predrilled holes for the front license. When a dealer mounts a front license plate holder, they drill new holes into the front of the bumper. I would suggest seeing if your dealer can obtain part number 51110141383, which is the Euro plate holder for the aero kit. The aero kit holders use holes drilled from underneath and don't ruin the front of the bumper. However the Euro version may or may not be available in the USA. It is number 9 in this diagram: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...& hg=51&fg=95 |

Offline | Thanks for the help! My last Mini, an '03 Cooper, had a place on the front for license plates. I'll check that out to get my SHATZI plate attached!! "give me my potato chips and no one gets hurt" |
