BMW Aerokit with a chrome grille?

I really fancy getting the BMW aerokit for my MCS, but I have the chrome line exterior and really like the chrome grille - more so than the black mesh one that comes as standard with the aerokit.

Does anyone know if you can get the aerokit with chrome instead of black?

Hi,
I know you can get a chrome aftermarket grill instead. scooby212 has done this. You can see pics on his website

I think it looks wicked PM him, he'll be able to tell you more

apparently I read in another thread about this, the aero front bumper has different fitting points, so the aero grill is what fits it. But with some hard work and bodging you can get the normal grill to fit.

Sure if you have a search you will find the answer in one of the many other threads about this

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

aerokit and standard grill

My dealership kindly fitted the original chrome grill back on when they put the aerokit on for me - looks great. The black was just a bit too much for me and I didn't think it went with the colour of my car (EB/W). Sorry no updated pics in my gallery (must do that soon..)

Anyway - it can be done, and my dealer did it for me!!

Hey sorry, this is probably a real stupid question, but: What does an aerokit do?

Have a look at a thread I wrote on this "I took on BMW and won". I didn't have the chrome but I had the "S" Grille instead and it was a hassle to BMW but it can be done. There is a pic of my car on there with said aerokit and no black grille.

I won;t even pretend it does wonders for aerodynamic efficiency - basically it's a bodykit that looks awesome!

That's excellent news. Any chance of a pic? I really want to see what it looks like. What colour is the mesh bit at the bottom. If it's black, does it go with the chrome?

Just spoken to a technician at BMW and he says it's actually easier to fit the aerokit without removing the grille

Hee hee - aerokit here we come

Yes because the grille is attatched to the bonnet already. It is the lower part to go into the bumper that causes the problems, the chrome and blue bottom part of the grille had to be cut and glued I believe to get it to fit in the aero bumper slot. Not that you can tell and I have had the magnifying glass on it to check

Glad to hear somebody else is daft enough to inspect their MINI with a magnifying glass

Yes, the bottom mesh is black, but I think it looks fine with the 2 chrome grills above. Will try and take some pictures this weekend and post them.

Chrome grille on an "S"

I dont have the Aero Kit but I ordered my MCS with a chrome grille but insisted on a Chrome "S" grille (bigger slats than the Cooper) I think it was an extra £20.
But JCW didn't fit the lower slat (the one on the bumper) But I actually like it that way.
