Cooper S Fuel Cap!

Hi. Recently bought a Cooper S fuel cap. Does any one know if there are any screws that come with the kit? Had a look at the FAQ to fit it myself on NAM and in the picture of the full kit there is a small screw in a clear bag. I did not get this with mine. Is this screw needed when fitting? Would not want to pull everything apart and find out i have a piece missing.

Thanks, Chris.

Unless the design has changed, there should be a screw to fix the chrome cap to the metal ring on the main assembly. It is pretty clear how it fits -- it sort of hooks over one end, and there is a screw hole at the other end.

It should be possible to put the whole thing together without fitting it to the car. You need to fit the trim ring (which snaps into place) before attaching the chrome fuel cap.

It's easy to take apart again -- since you have access to the back of the thing, you can just push the snap-in fittings of the trim ring out of the recesses.

From what I remeber when I bought 1 off Ebay for my Cooper-I did not have any screw-You have to firmly push the new Cap in place until it makes nice satisfying click and sits in there nicely. Although the Chrome Cap was already attached to the Plastic ring
This was on a 2003 MINI
