To remove the mirror caps you must first remove the mirror lenses themselves.

the mirrors are a "press fit" on to their swivel (what actually gets moved by the electric motors) so you need to stick your fingers behind as much of the circumference of the glass as you can. Apply PROGRESSIVE GENTLE pressure (if you can get both your hands behind, so much the better) and they will pop off rather easily (if you jerk you will not only break the glass but your skin as well).
Once the mirror glass is out, you will be able to see a series of plastic snaps that hold the cap. Just undo them with fingers or a small blade (again GENTLY) and voila! mirror cap off.
Install is the reverse, carefully does it, the mirror will snap back into place after you have CAREFULLY aligned the snaps of the new cap and GENTLY snapped them into place.
Hope this helps.....

You don't need to remove the mirror lenses to do this. It's very easy. get a plastic spoon and start at the top nearest the glass of the side window. Slip the spoon (handle end) into the gap between the cover and the housing and work your way around. Be bold and the mirror cap will pop off easy. Once you have it off you will see how it clips back on with a push

Unhappy Broken mirror cap - Aaaarrrghh!

After reading all the instructions I set about replacing my mirror caps with some lovely shiny chrome caps.

Tried to put the mirror cap back on with a firmish not too hard push but somehow ALL THREE of the top clips have been bent. One of them is completely broken. Put the black one back on with no problem. After all the hassle I have had with getting a refund on some covers scratched in delivery I cant believe this.

Dont suppose anyone knows of a miracle way of gluing the plastic clips, or attaching the cover without the clips do they?

Any chance you could take the caps back to the dealer's parts counter and tell 'em they were broken when you got 'em out of the box?

Talking Problem solved

Couldnt try and fluke that, besides the dealer checked them out of the box.

Had a think about it and ended up fixing them with my hot glue gun. It:

Is very strong when fully set
Sticks to plastic like sh*t to a blanket
Remains flexible enough to let the clips do their bit

Anyway the mirror cap is now attached just as good as the other one!

Phew, I was worried for you (I guessed your only option was to send another £40 or so)

Well...my mirror broke...I was pulling pretty much from one side as even with my medium-sized fingers, I couldn't squeeze them in on both sides...ordered a new one...$68.

Turns out is was pretty easy to get something back behind the mirror to pry up those clips.

I have a set of those "feeler" guages...the kind that's used for gapping spark plugs...I used the three thickest ones, and inserted one each under the top three clips...and the mirror cap came off pretty easy.

Dumb question time!

Is there any difference between RHD and LHD mirror caps? I have acquired a spare set of RHD ones that I plan on decorating, but just occurred to me, my car is LHD - will it make a difference?

Cheers anyone!

With mirror caps - is it best to get chrome replacements or just buy the stick on ones for over the top?
