| The Power Cube | Colour coding - wasted effort Hi. I see that colour coded spray work is much dearer than just shiny black or any other out-of-the-hat colour. But why? I mean, once Dark SIlver is done once, then can't all bodyshops use that colour code ??????? Does that pre-knowledge not bring the costs down ? Also - MINI Design in Leeds seems to be the best value for the auality you get..(so far...) ![]() Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing... |

Offline | SBS body repairs did my DS/MCS for £200. That was him taking everything off spraying up and putting back on, he even went round to the dealers to get additional clips, as some break off when removing some of the arches and sills. Bargain price and a cracknig finish. Only problem is they're in Carlisle, the city of doom.................!! He has also resprayed my scratched door since and can mix up the correct code anytime and any amount. No probs. Dark Silver/Black MCS (Carlisle) - Now Stopped Drooling..............Now sitting in Lloyds MINI very cherished dept!! Minnie Mouse is all that is left....... |

| The Power Cube | Very interesting. How long does the process take, to what degree do they prepare and prime the plastic - i.e., how does it compare to the quality provided at MINI Design...? Incidentally, why is Carlise the city of doom? ![]() Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing... |

Offline | Copy of a thread I subscibed to a few weeks ago singing the praises of SBS. ..... If you want a good recommendation of where to get the 'flip' colours paint job at a fraction of the price you have been quoted, try S.B.S in Carlisle. He done my colour coded arches & sills on my dark silver MCS. Removed them painted them and put them back on.............£200. And a bloody good job. He has also done a flip colour on a MCS with Lambo doors in Carlisle which I have seen, and it is a cracking job. The same car has a paint on the roof I have never seen, it looks light grey, but when the sun hits it, it shows the colours of the rainbow. Only thing is, he told me that paint is £500 a litre and he used half a litre on the roof...... Nice though. My MCS was in for 3 days. He uses all the correct plastic primers etc and sands the plastic to smooth to get rid of the texture. A further recommendation of his work is that all the local cruisers in their Saxo's, Corsa's etc go there for the custom paint work and some of his work has been featured in custom car mags. I will post some pics at the weekend of the work he did on mine. By the way, Carlisle is presently the city of doom after Foot & Mouth began at a sheep aucton mart near Carlisle, Footy team relegated to Conference, The floods of January wiping out the city centre and business and making 3000 people still homeless, factorys closing due to fire and a bloody big 14 ton cursing stone in the city which was recently featured on Sky and BBC 1 which they reckon is the cause of all this misery. Yes.....its one fun place to be, but dont let that put you off.!! Dark Silver/Black MCS (Carlisle) - Now Stopped Drooling..............Now sitting in Lloyds MINI very cherished dept!! Minnie Mouse is all that is left....... |
