wiring Bmw spot lights

is there any chance that u can just wire the bmw mini spots lights striaght off the battery with a switch instead of doing it the official way??im thinking of purchasing a set

cheers max but can i not???i dont understand he he he he he,i wanna just wire it myself,straight to the battery n a switch,not using the bmw supplied wires

Unless you wish to take a chance of frying your wiring loom (and your MINI), install relays on each light circuit and don't use the battery as a hot wire.

Wiring the lamps directly to the battery is asking for a fire.

Not only relays but an in-line fuse this is most important on any auto electric wiring. As vgat6 says, if you don't you will fry the car. Not good practice wiring anything directly from the battery.

Can you use the original bmw loom with all its fuses but instead of wiring the relay into the bc1 module replace it for a heavy duty switch. After all a relay is basically a switch.

The OEM spot lights come with a wiring loom, The Mini is not pre-wired for these lights. This wiring loom can be modified to be operated from a switch rather that the BC1 module, but should include relays and fuse, these are also included with the OEM kit.
