Painting my MC grille

I'm thinking of painting my MC's front grille to body colour (solid black). Can it be done?
will the paint hold?
any opinions are appreciated.

thanks

I'll be watching this thread with interest. I'm due to pick up my MINISa, Chili Red with black roof and mirrors and black bonnet stripes. I was thinking the body color grille might look good in black.

that also comes into my consideration...but I think MCS has more slats than MC so this means I have to change the surroundings...can you clarify this?
also, do I need to modify the grille (like the aero one) in order to be paired with stock MC bumper?

some pics of yours would be good

The MCS actually has fewer slats, but the grill is a direct bolt on. I did the bumpers as well, but I don't think you would have to:

A mini one has a flat black grill that would just swap over doesn't it?

Here is what my car looked like after i switched out both the top and the middle grille, but left the bottom chrome grille alone.

Here is what it looked like after i got the bottom grille powdercoated a flat black. I bought the bottom grille new from the dealer for $40 and had it powdercoated for $15. You get that "S" effect without changing the whole bumper.

The red Cooper looks spot on. That was the reason I never bothered with the chili pack - too much chrome. I think the colour coded grille looks superb. Think I'll be doing that
