I have a new 05 S that I'm picking up tomorrow. I've always wanted the Union Jack on the roof - I have the sunroof. I planned on going with Cooper Flags - I just want the one that only covers the sunroof.

My dealer just told me that MINI actually does a sunroof Union Jack now from the factory. Problem is the one they shipped is damaged. There is also something like 47 on back order.

Any opinions as to which is better? Cooper or Factory? The dealer says they are really about the same.

The cooperflags is definitely better, in the fact that it is perforated so you can still see through your sunroof, where the factory one is solid.

I have a Cooper Flag and think it's great. Been on since Aug. and no problems. They were very quick to ship and it looks great.

I would use the non standard one.

I fitted a OEM MINI Union Jack today, as a warranty issue for BMW becaus the one on the vehicle had marks in the film.
This new one, sent all the way to OZ from Munich was worse.
The standard ones are screen printed Avery 800PF. A good material, but why screen print them and die cut them unless you are cutting costs.
These are bleedin expensive too, and any reputable sign company can produce better.
Make sure you ask specifically for Avery 900QM or 3M 7125 or 7725 or Controltac if you go down the aftermarket route.
