Aux lamp - wiring into main beams UPDATE

Hi all,

First of all, apologies for starting yet ANOTHER driving lamp thread! But, I have done the search, and can't quite find what I'm after.

Today, I got myself a pair of OEM style lamps from P&L Minis. Apparently they're made by the same people who make the OEM ones - they look very similar to me anyway so I bought them. Fitting them with the brackets etc was really easy and they look very smart.

BUT - I need to wire them into the main/full beam circuit, and don't know which wires behind my Halogen units to splice into. Can anyone give me some guidance?

Thanks in advance,

JoN

UPDATE:

I've attached this pic - there is only one yellow/blue wire and thats on the offside(drivers) unit. Do I then splice into the yellow/green on the opposite side as that seems to be in the same position?

The 'blue/yellow' cable feeds the main beam

Cheers for that mate!

Did you ever use the 'S' graphic I did for you on the wheel centres?

Sweet! Really love the side vents! Looks classy.

I'd have seen that thread, but I got myself on two wheels recently so I've been carving up the countryside on that for a bit

Modded the MINI today, so I'm back into the 4 wheels now too!

Sorry, I was assuming he had all the parts and just needed to know which colour cable to splice into.

Ermmm.....

Had a quick look under the bonnet last night with a torch, and could only find a blue/yellow on one side!

I'll have another look in a few hours and report back - possibly with pics. Don't want an action movie bomb disposal type scenario here.

Do you need to atach one to each side? Can't you run the power for both lights off of just the one headlight? That is how I have always done it. Granted I have never done it for a MINI, so things may be different.

All done!

Was much easier than I thought. Most of the time was spent making sure it was a neat install (as well as safe). Tapped into just the one yellow/blue wire on the left hand side of the bonnet (open facing the engine). All wired in with the help of a fast wiring kit by RING which came with all the wires (some not long enough though), relay, fuse and an illuminated switch (not used).

Thanks for all your help. Wouldn't have dared even attempting it without ya.
