DIY Fit sunroof in a mini without one?

Hey there.

I 've purchased my mini cooper without sunroof. Is it possible to fit the orginal sunroof now? Can the whole roof be replaced with a one contains a sunroof? I am not talking about drilling holes! (no way!). If anyone did this at an authorised dealer what was the cost. (i guess it was a lot).

as nobody has replied, I'll make an attempt...

...the short answer is give the idea up.

The long answer is...

Dealers used to put in retro-fit (manual) sunroofs on cars (but not BMW.) Indeed, there used to be companies in the 80's & 90's in every town. Alas, they were all chased out of town when the roofs leaked! The sunroof at factory cost Ģ600, so a whole roof would probably cost you Ģ3000. And then BMW wouldn't want to do it, or deal with the car again, the structural integrity would disappear on a modified car. Sell your car, and buy a new/2nd hand one.

Sorry, bad news is bad news.

Sell your car and buy one with a sunroof if that's what you want. Unless you enjoy throwing money away.

I was told it was possible to fit an electric one that slides over the top of the roof - Webasto do them, and BMW will arrange but it will be a normal size sunroof and I would expect horrifically expensive. In the end I waited to find a Mini with the sunroof already on.

MCS JCW EB/B 210 Bhp lots of extras!
