Aero Kit, Dealers and Black Plastic

Haven't seen any posts about this and I was just wondering if anyone has asked the dealer to color code all black plastic parts (wheel arch, etc.) when getting the aero kit installed on a new MINI (prior to taking delivery)? Were dealers willing to throw in the additional labor/costs or did you have to pay on top of the aero kit cost/install? And if so, how much more did they charge to do it? Thanks.

I would imagine that they would have a different shop do the paint, so I doubt they would just "throw it in". But you might as well try it. I am sorry I cannot help though, I don't have the aero kit (as nice as it is). Maybe some day, I will at least get the side skirts.

In the UK most dealers won't touch colour coding. The black plastic is not smooth and
there are stories of the paint not adhering to plastic. Both problems can be overcome
with time and effort i.e. your money. You'll need to ask around for a good non-factory
bodyshop recommendations. Unfortunately some bodyshops will say it's not a problem
get your money others will say it's not a problem as they have genuine experience of
successful colour coding.

When I got my aero kit they asked me if I wanted the arches to match the kit (ie. color code the arches) or if I wanted the kit to match the arches (black kit trim). This was included as part of the aero kit installation.

It'd be less of an issus for people getting a primed aero kit as then it could be all painted in one colour in one go.
Factory pre-painted aero kits (which there are available in the UK from MINI UK stock in quite a few colours) would be another thing altogether and involve extra cost. Depends on how you go about it.

Don't knock colour coding till you've seen it done properly.

Your car looks great with the c/c, aero kit and wheels all complimenting each other. I
nearly bought some RSGT's after seeing them at the NEC but wasn't sure if they would
suit the Mini but they look excellent on.

My MA doesn't seem to know much or anything at all concerning color coding the black plastic pieces so I probably won't have it done by the dealer and take it with just the aero kit and maybe color code the rest later if I feel like I need to.
