Offline | This has to be the most ill advised mod...I had my stripes on for almost 2 yrs and decided to remove them due to yellowing etc. REGRET....Why did I ever apply vinyl to my brand new car?? Getting the adhesive residue off was a nightmare. I tried all sorts of products, 3M etc and still, I am working on the hood 3 hours later. I say grrrr at bonnet stripes. ![]() Ahh yes Money Penny....... Last edited by SoggyCornFlakes : Aug 5th, 2005 at 08:12 AM. |

| MINI2 Senior | Certain types of 3M vinyl are not recommended for automotive applications. I understand that what I put on my car is a non-automotive type of vinyl, but I liked the color and will live with the consequences. At least I knew that going in. Sorry you got "surprised" by one of the after-market vendors. Not sure what to do about the residue (clay bar the car's bonnet?), but maybe someone in the detailing section of NEMINI.org can help you out. ANTSMINI is pretty good on detailing tips.![]() Early is on time; On time is late.![]() |

Offline | In Australia we have a local product called Eucalyptus Oil. It is distilled from Eucalyptus leaves and is an excellent liquid to remove glue residues and stains. Maybe you can get some from a pharmacy or chemist or whatever you call it over there. Also it's very good to put some drops on a cloth to inhale and clear your nasal passages. Every house would have some for spot cleaning down under though. I should add that it is a 100% natural product and should be fine to use on the car surface. Just moisten a soft cloth with the oil and rub gently. It is commonly used to remove chewing/bubble gum from surfaces. |

Offline | I've just taken mine off my second hand MCS and used WD-40 to get the sticky stuff of, just give it a quick spray....leave it for 5 mins and it all comes of with a little wipe. |

Offline | Another thing that takes that sticky junk off really well is Electric Saving After Shave. I know its odd, but it works. I use it all the time to get that stuff off glass. Not sure how it would work on paint. ![]() |
