England Bodykit for MCS to cut weight

Hey all.

Has anybody heard of a full bodykit for an MCS that would cut the cars kerbweight? All of the bodykits I have seen are just skirts etc and all look boyracer-ish. Preferably I dont want to change the look of the car so a direct replacement using fibreglass (carbon is too dear) would probably be best.

However would this be road legal? Ive already heard horror stories of severly reduced crash safety on full bodykits.

I dont want to strip the car to lose weight, rather than just replacing parts with lighter ones. I dont want to play with the mechanicals either as I will be fitting JCW soon. I have found that as fibreglass (or part carbon) is so drastically lighter than either steel or ally, this would likely be the way to go.

Any other ideas instead? Perspex windows could be an option. With details of this 2006 lightweight car still slim, any pointers at all would be great.

Thanks, Paul.

I doubt fiberglass would be any lighter especially after painting.
The only lightweight panel is a CF hood ( bonnet)

Possibly. Will look into exactly how much weight can be saved (as you say it wont be much) but thanks for the tip anyway!

Paul

Lohen are putting finishing touches to their CF bonnet, it is a direct replacement for the stock bonnet using original fittings and equipment.

Stock bonnet is 16kg, and their bonnet is 8kgs, this is the heavy version !

If you have a sunroof you can always remove it and replace with lighter panels...

Oh, and get some nice light wheels and tyres if you havent already !

Blake.
