Leaky Antenna! Need Help!

I haven't really drove my Mini in the rain until recently. I noticed water leaking into the back seat. With some investigation I discovered that my antenna is very loose. Anyone know how to tighten it? Thanks in advance for any assistance!

The '05 is a new antenna design, I believe, but the Bently 02-04 manual shows the post simply unscrews from the mount, further exposing the base cover. The base cover rotates and removes, and under that is a nut, washer, and seal holding the aerial mount to the roof. Best left to the dealer on a new one, IMHO. I have not seen specific removal instructions for the '05.

On my 05 Mini Cooper the antenna mast unscrews and the base in held on with a large nut from the inside of the roof. I know this because I had to replace it after my wife had smashed it off on a automatic garage door. If the base is loose I would take it back to the dealer and make them tighten it. To tighten the base the headliner inside the car must be lowered and that is not much fun at all When I installed my new antenna base I applied some silicon lubricant to the rubber portion of the base to ensure a good seal to the roof.

Head lining comes off pretty easy but you need to remove all trim ar high level to get to it.
I had a cold metal repair doen on the roof as some t1t ti th car with a golf club and had to take the linning off to get to it.

Thanks. I did pluck up the courage to start pulling away the plastic box cover, the trim and some of the ceiling from the back with the boot door open, and after pulling firmly on the wires inside, I connected the new antenna base/ tuner very easily. Actually, disconecting the old antenna needs a bit of force as one of the cables locks into place. You might need a pair of pliers to get it off. Getting the new base/tuner back into position and through the little hole in the roof was tricky but, a tip for any other readers, was much easier if attempted while standing behind the mini facing forwards than from inside-and-under through the hole in the ceiling.
I probably saved about $120 labor for what was a very quick job!
