Hi there,

My r53 cooper s has made a kind of " bag of marbles rattling around" noise when in neutral with the clutch pedal up (not depressed) which dissappears when I press the clutch pedal down for about a year and 20k miles now.... well now the release bearing is making a squeal as though its out of grease, so I will be ordering a clutch and dual mass flywheel kit and finding someone to fit it,
My question is, should I be looking to get the input shaft bearing replaced or will it last another clutch life? ( currently on first clutch at 71k miles)

Any idea how long the release bearing will go on for before it becomes un-driveable as money is an issue this month.

Thanks for any advice guys

Joe

Right, today i had a police marker put on my beloved Mini  long story but a copper thought he saw me doing something that i was doing but for other reasons, Complicated! A car pulled out from nowhere with no warning from a hidden junction in a 60mph zone ( i also had vans and close behind me), copper in unmarked car (behind 2 vans & 2 cars) thought he saw me overtake towards an oncoming car on hatched lines on the end of a duel carriage way, anyhow i actually swerved around this car that pulled out, doing 60 in a 60 how the hell was i supposed to stop?! he just pulled out if i didn't swerve i would have been hit across the road. Anyway 5 minutes later i have a marked car up my backside, i escaped points (clearly not much evidence!) but got this marker. Does anyone know much about them? He didn't tell me anything about it, Looked abit pee'd off cause he couldn't find anything else wrong with the car, got in his car and went! How long do they stay with the car for? Ive heard of people getting pulled on the regular with a maker, more trouble then its worth i guess. Ive purchased a private plate which I'm waiting for the new V5 to come back before i can put them on. Will this get rid of the marker or will it be all transferred?

Sorry about the long post & 101 questions

Most dealer feedback is negative as people don't bother posting when they are happy.

I just want to share my general and genuine happiness with my new dealership Sytner in Slough. I can't comment on other Sytner branches and don't intend to do so.

So far I used the Slough guys and girls for servicing my old R56 MCS, bought my R57 MC convertible there and had warranty work carried out. Every single person I dealt with is very nice, genuine, knowledgeable and caring.

They also have a fantastic and gigantic showroom and everything is exactly how I would expect it.

I used to go to MINI Cooper Reading, the Sales person I was unlucky to get was horrible (think Apprentice candidates), sleazy, clueless, awkward and made many untrue statements. I would never buy a car from them again as mine had very obvious defects that they didn't disclose for a quick sale.

So thank you very much MINI Sytner Slough for making me believe again that there may be dealers that invest in a long term relationship with their customers. Well done, keep up the great work. :)

hey so a while ago i had my idler pulley die. i got a replacement idler pulley from the auto parts store and after having replaced it and driven for a while the washer piece that is crimped onto the bolt wound itself off making the pulley loose and wobbly (also i think the design is kinda flawed) . so after taking it off again and finding this i noticed that there is a 16mm recess in the block about 5mm deep and the spacer on the pulley does not fit into this, the spacer on the pulley is 26 mm wide. i ws just wondering if this is the way its supposed to be if lost a spacer piece when i took the old pulley off or if the replacment pully is the wrong part or just a plain piece of junk? i'm still running it the belt is not running on Centre of the pulley and it chirps when it starts up till the belt is warmed up and sticky, i'm not sure if the idler pulley is the incorrect distance from the block or maybe my Alta. s/c pulley got pulled out a bit when it came loose. so just wondering from anyone who has done the repair do i have the right pulley ? it looks the same as all the replacement pulleys online.
this weekend i think i will reset the s/c pulley and align the alternator to be sure it may just be chirping because the pulleys aren't true

thanks guys

My question is... I've managed to get video out to the screen in the car from both an iPhone and an iPod touch using the Y lead but I'm curious to know if anyone has managed to get video from a USB stick plugged in to the socket the Y lead normally plugs in to? It just seems strange that the capability to display video is there but only from an iPone or iPod?

I have got album art from it but no matter how many times I convert/re-encode or change the format of videos they just will not display from USB sticks.

Hi Everyone

I dont know if anyone might be able to help me or give me any suggestions on what to do? :)

I have a mini one 2011 (05 plate). Last year i starting having problems with the key fob, it wouldnt let me open and close the car by fob so im having to use it manually, which i need to solve the problem if i sell the car in the future.

I rang the local mini garage and all they could suggest was that i buy a new key for £150.00 which is a ridiculous price to pay for just a key.
So i rang other garages and luckily enough the garage i go to for Services,MOT etc said they could re-code the key for only £30.00 which is better than £150.00.

So the key was fine and working until earlier this month then the problem occured again.

so i dont know if the problem is due to electrical faults with the car or the key as the key just cant keep the code as im having to have it re-coded.

Can anyone suggest anything please :)

Thanks (MiniOne2011)
