Broke my car yesterday! All ok now tho ;)

Broke my car yesterday! Its ok now tho

Got to a roundabout and on the exit gave it a bit of a boot up the hill, (no that fast tho) and the traction control light flickered like normal. Then it can on permamently, together with the tyre pressure light and ABS warning light. Drove slow for a while and wouldnt go off so at the next junction turned the engine off. But then it wouldnt restart! It made a very painful noise but wouldnt start.

There i was at the junction at car wouldnt start! However tried again a few seconds later and all seemed ok anyone know what happened and whether it may happen again. Cheers

Take it to the dealers now! Have you had a recall notice?? I've had one for my old MCS saying exactly what happened.....well the lights all came on. They say that the Harness can rub on the chassis basically and finally cause a short in the ABS/ASC/DSC! Shame they didnt realise I dont have my car no more Sort of a kick in the teeth.

God know....one way to find out. But if you do get the latest ecu update it will wipe the superchip maps. You can ask BMW not to touch the ECU.... its your property at the end of the day.

Hiya Matt.....

Yep this happened to me, it was actaully one of the four ABS sensors. Its actually the ABS sensors that also control the traction control etc.

Now the fault has happened, there will be a fault logged in the cars computer. If you take it in, they will be able to see the fault and and fault code and make an instant diagnosis. Its a quick job to change, but they may need to order a part in.

Meanwhile, its fine to carry on, just leave plenty of braking room at all times.

They shouldn't touch your superchip for this, it will literaaly be a part replacement and then a clearing of the fault logs.

Hope that helps.

Jon

Talking How Spooky

I had that happen yesterday just when I drove out of my driveway - the DSC and the Tyre Light both came on. I rung BMW and they sent out a recovery man who said I needed to go to the dealers today - and that it was safe to drive but reminded me that the DSC was turned off. He checked all the tyres and they were all ok, and the lights stayed on.

So off I went to the dealers this morning - just got onto the M27 and what happens - the bloody lights turn off!!

I got to SNOWS in Portsmouth and they put it on there computer thing and said all seemed ok and that the car has sorted itself out!!?? But to keep an eye on it!! How typical is that!!

Well my fingers are crossed - we will see what happens!
