Crash....damage....help !!!

Someone has ran into the back of my poor cooper and im not amused

It was not a heavy - fast crash as I was stationary and he had hit some ice and was close to stopping.
On inspection first the damage was light scrapes below the chrome bumper....my car was extremely dirty with the road condition so I said to the guy it wasn't really worth worrying about
When I cleaned it to inspect damage further i noticed the chrome bumper is cracked / marked

While the damage would appear to be cosmetic any one else got experience or advice for me to follow

I don't think the impact would have caused any damage as my thoughts are the bumper did it's job

Thanks

May the road long rise up to meet you........

Hi - Sorry to hear about the bump

If its just the chrome bit that is damaged, that is easily replaced because it just clips on, I think. Shouldn't be too expensive for a new one.

Sometimes it is hard to tell the damage until later on. I was in my dads car once dropping my sister at the station. Some ****** in a big Lexus reserved into me, not once, but twice !! The ******** just drove off as well. He only stopped when I shouted that if he didn’t stop I would call the police. When he came over had the cheek to give me ****. Saying there was no damage to the car. What REALLY ****ed me off though was that I had my nephew in the back and when I told him he wasn't the slightest concerned. I took his details and was going to report him to the police, but my dad said to just drop it. There was damage to the car, albeit minor. But my god what an arrogant ******** that guy was.

I would take the whole bumper cover off and check the aluminium bumper. If it has been cracked or bent up, surely it will not protect the car or its occupants next time.

I would get it double checked. We once had a rear end smack and the car looked fine until we lifted the carpet in the boot and found it had bevelled.

I also would get it double checked.....

On a MINI run Poppet ran into the back of my Cooper, and while the bumper looked as though it was just scuffed, the support brackets underneath were/are bent!

I hadn't thought about those

If its pierced the bumper slightly do you think it will need replacing?

Sorry for the highjack, but someone hit mine the other week, and they never left any details

I saw some of the aluminum brackets on eBay, might be worth me buying one just in case

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

They are quite soft and easy to bend in an impact, so they are worth checking......

Regarding piercing/replacement, a small crack (couple of inches) can be repaired in a bumper using heat bonding, longer cracks mean the bumper becomes less solid structurally and needs replacement...
