Clutch noise

I have an 02 Mini One with 40k miles on it and recently i've noticed a medium pitched noise when i pull away from junctions. Its a similar noise to brake squeal, only lower pitched. Its more noticable on hill starts and more so since the weather has turned cold.. Its definately clutch related too. Anyone else had this? I drive normally and i am considerate of my clutch so this is a bit of a surprise noise.
Any ideas?

Hello

This will be your input shaft that is dry and reqs lubricating.
The gearbox would obviously req removing to do this so it isnt anything you can do on your own im affriad.

This is a very common fault now on 2-3 yr old cars.

Cheers

Now i know what the fault is i can set about rectifying it as i work at a motor accessory store with our own fast fit centre nexy door. I have two mechanics at my disposal too. We all agreed it was probably far too early to require a clutch and someone did mention the input shaft but i thought i'd see if there were any common faults on here before removing the box. Thanks for your reply!!

Very interesting. I have this too. A sort of medium/low pitched 'woooooo' when pulling away slowly (especially out of my garage spot in the morning).

I took it to the dealer the other day, and they said they couldn't recreate it, and told me maybe I'm slipping the clutch too much. What a cop out!

Do you think this is something I should press to be fixed, or is it really not a problem? People who ride in my car so usually ask what the noise it, so it's not like it's completely insignificant. My Feb 2004 MCS is on a 4 year lease.

I had same problem (same noise occuring when pulling away) 2 months ago and dealer replaced clutch under warranty (had only 18k miles on car).
