Offline | HELP – Rattling Milltek Exhaust when Cold Hi, Does anyone else suffer from a rattling exhaust in this cold weather ? I have a Milltek exhaust on a MCS which when cold is vibrating against the cars rear bumper section however once the car / exhaust is warm the rattle disappears (I amuse because the metal expands). Anyone know if this can be fixed ? Cheers Perm |

Online | It will disappear in time. In my thread about my Milltek Minigolf has cut away a little black trim to stop the noise, pictures are in the thread. I am very sastisfied with my Milltek. At least until I also fixed the MTH header last weekend. The sound now is awesome but too loud. My MCS is at the dealer now to check if the MTH header is fitted with all the gaskets in its place, I hope a gasket is blown out so the noise will be a bit less. EB/W R53 MCS Highly Modified |

Online | The drop is not directly adjustable. With the Milltek you can position the tips more forward or backward, there is some kind of slider with clamp before the mufflers. Sliding it more backwards will let the tips stick out more, but the exhaust will also be lifted up a bit. You may not have the resonating trim if you put the tips more forward. Online | I think I have to exchange the Milltek catback for stock too, with my MTH header it is also just deafening. You had any noticable power loss after changing to stock, and how is the sound compared with the stock exhaust to when you had the Milltek alone, still ok? Sorry for asking in this thread. I believe you can get other tips at the dealer if you don't like the stock cola cans. I know I will do that when I change back to stock. EB/W R53 MCS Highly Modified |

Offline | The stock exhaust sounds fine and i think that i might have gained some power lower down....not sure though, I personally think that stock is quite good for sound anyway, i know a few tuners Keep it (BBR) on their conversions, but Roland at GTT uses his re-route pipe and only 1 silencer...his car is also quite quiet. Its the header that matters ![]() |

Offline | Funny, How when you ask a question a few niggles with Milltek come out off the wood work. Not knocking the product, I love the look and sound. I assumed that everyone was happy with it. Just need to drop the right hand side exhuast tip down by 3mm and all will be welll. Perrm |

| The de Chromed MINI | I have no rattles on mine, fitted it with some exhaust joint compound to help seal each of the joints, you can adjust how far the tips stick out, mine the old style that comes in about 6 different pieces. ![]() Last edited by Pobsey : Dec 16th, 2005 at 04:24 PM. |

Offline | Cheers Berthil … I found cutting the trim worked well for me, and because you only need to trim a tiny bit of edge off the inside edge, it's pretty easy, and if you balls it up, you can't really see it anyway. ![]() |

Offline | An Update..... Just wanted to let you no that I have got my Milltek exhaust rattle fixed. In the end I booking it in with Milltek based in Nottingham (Derby) who realigned it. The basic problem was that the end tail pipes were sticking out to much. The new set up has the tail pipes much nearer closer in so that the Milltek logo is just visible. The other advantage is that the exhaust note now sounds a lot better ( I now understand why this system is so highly rated…… I was a little under whelmed before). Overall now very happy.… pity AMD did not fit it correctly in the first place. Cheers Perm |

| Big girl's blouse | Mine does exactly the same - rattles for a little while, then it dissapears. I've been fiddling with it for ages, trying to stop it rattling - I need to slide it out about 1/2 an inch to stop the rattle, but the exhaust sealant at the join has baked solid and not sure I can be @rsed to do the work to free it up.... ![]() |

Offline | Its in the installation Hi That must be it. Installation issues with the Milltek. I purchased a full system recently and regretted it almost immediately when driving away from my workshop. Its just too loud for my ears and its like I suffer from L.O.A syndrome (Lack of Attention) - ROAR! LOOK AT ME! Thereafter I tried running it in as advised by Milltek but really couldn't put up with it. 400kms down the road I swapped the cat-back to stock but kept the header on. Much more civilised exhaust note. However - I felt a loss of torque and power at the upper rev range. Minimal initially but eventually felt like I was driving a half breathing car. SOOOOO...I reverted back to the Milltek cat-back, willing myself to put up with it. But guess what...its CIVILISED! The car is not loud anymore, unless I squeeze the loud pedal of course (accelerator), to the extent that I thought my guys put on another stock exhaust by mistake. Seriously, I now believe the Milltek is critical to proper installation. The variable length to the slip on pipe surely must play a bigpart in this. In the 2nd time around installation I had the end pipes come out a little more and it made a world of difference. The car pulls better, or I perceive it to, sounds better, feels better. No drone. Now I'm impressed! Nuts |

| MINI2 Newbie | Hust a quick tip... ...I bought a Milltek cat-back system from Awesome GTI last November and got a mechanic mate to fit it.However,I wasn't ever really happy with how far the tail pipes jutted out at the rear ,even when cold. When I was at the Autosport show I was on the Milltek stand and happened to mention my problem to Dave Marshall, their General Manager, who invited me up to their factory premises in Ilkeston,Derbyshire to adjust and test the system. This I did last week.I have to say, that I was delighted with my welcome, and the service I received was second to none. The pipes now look fantastic and I'm now very tempted to order a FACTORY fitted manifold and sports-cat! Don't forget that all Milltek systems come with a lifetime guarantee,so if you are unhappy contact Milltek directly and I'm sure that they'll try and sort things out for you! Si.
