Angry fuel line fiasco

Bought our baby late Friday eve...Sunday AM, hopped in for a spin and died in the driveway. Towed Monday...was told it was a loose quick connector. Drove away happily and died again a mile away! It turns out to be the fuel line coming off the sending unit on the left side, and we aren't the first. Engineering has no permanent fix in mind, so a zip tie strap is keeping us on the road (we hope) until BMW tech comes up with something better.
Add this one to your list!...which is becoming pretty scary. No wonder BMW isn't paying for rental cars during repairs unless we foot the bill. Did anyone buy the extended warranty for it? Why should we have to?!?!

You don't need the extended warranty what you need is a spare car GOOD LUCK you are going to be needing it in bucket loads

Regarding pic. request: The temporary fix was done by BMW. Tim's out of town; I seem to remember he asked how to fix it if need be, and it's of course in a hard place to get to...if it's accessible we'll borrow a digital camera and post. He did say it was due to fuel line pressure, and the service dept said they knew of several others with problems as well. Will definitely update when BMW tech. decides if there's a better way!
