| The sans serif sheriff | My just-out-of-warranty '03 MINI developed the classic stress crack inside the glass of the front windshield over night. After reading so many threads about them, I considered myself very lucky to not have had any problems with my windshield! Anyway, I've just been passed around from dealer to dealer on the phone like a hot potato. Decided to go the insurance route and it is getting replaced next wednesday. After hearing scare stories about cracked plastic pillar covers and sub-standard optics, I'm really dreading it! Do I have any sort of comeback if the glass is poor quality (rippled etc)? Jon. ![]() Tinkering In The Garage | Auto glass will order in genuine screen for you with the mini wings on it if you ask them. There is no difference in the cost ans they are both made by the same people according to AG, it just looks that little bit better as original Ady ![]() |

| The sans serif sheriff | Spoke to the dealer I bought it from and said words to the effect of: "It's a well known design/manufacturing issue, I've had several cars from you in the past(4), it's warranty has only just expired, couldn't you replace it as a goodwill gesture?" No cigar. They said they *might* have done it if it was still under warranty and I'd have to take the car over to them for the manager to have a look at if that was the case. Sounded like they were going to need a bit of a battle to be convinced, and I just want it sorting as I might not be keeping the car for too much longer. Anyhoo, my insurers designated a glass firm to me - I had no choice. National Windscreens here in Sheffield are coming round on Wednesday. Fingers crossed they're alright!
