Travelling back to germany the other nite.... doing about 115 mph, through dortmund... whilst chasing 3 audi estates.. (was mental)...

1. I got flashed.... in a 55 zone.... Hmmmmmmmmm not good

2. About 3 seconds after I got over the massive flash..... I got handed a huge stone slap bang into my windscreen and hence i now have a chip directly in front of my eyes....

can anyone please advise me as what i can do to fix the chip... is it gonna cost a new windscreen..... cos combined with the fine... i think i'm going to be broke for months to come......

If it's a small chip (smaller than a penny/1 euro cent/whatever), you can fix it yourself with windshield repair epoxy. http://www.popularmechanics.com/auto...t/1272411.html

Mine started out really tiny. After a couple months of dramatic heat and cold weather changes the whole thing split horizontally. My insurance covered it completely. About $500.00 or so.

Hi Mountain,

Most comprehensive insurance policies in the UK include glass cover. Call your insurance company, they will send you to an Autoglass centre. Repairs to windscreens are normally free, while replacement screens are normally done with a £50 excess.

Just make sure if they replace it they replace the A-Pillar trims at the same time.

If it's directly in your line of sight then it will be able to be repaired but it may not pass an MOT. Plus it could be downright annoying as repairs never return the glass to its original condition so you'll always have this annoying spot you can't see out of properly.
