just opened the boot of my mini cooper today, to fold back the seats and i also lifted the carpet on the boot floor, i came across a small compartment , which had about an inch of water in it, not sure why the water was there but , there is small plugs so i removed them and drained the water , can any 1 help me on this 1

Firstly the little compartment you are referring to is for the compressor and tyre sealent to go if you didn't have run-flat tyres. It shouldn't be filled with water and I expect you have the problem where water leaks in around the seal for the high level brake light. It is a reasonably common problem and should be sorted by your dealer under warranty.

Do a search for wet boot or damp boot. I'm sure you'll stumble across more information.
