Convertible roof problem.

When I go to lower the convertible roof, the first stage with the sunroof opening happens okay. Then when I press it again for the top to lower, nothing happens. There are no red lights on and the parcel shelf at the back is in the correct position.

Close the roof and try again. (Sometimes maybe two more times)

This time the roof lowers completely, but the rear windows don't go back up, unless I press the window button to do this.

Close the roof completely and try again. Everything works okay!

Anyone else had this?

Yup - I've had this intermittently but it's always sorted itself out after lots of turning ignition off and faffing about with the parcel shelf (which is probably more for my benefit to keep me amused while I wait rather than actually achieving anything technical), until it rights itself. I've always put it down to just being my roof as I've had a few problems with it since i got it (probably because I bought the showroom model which had the roof down for 3 months which I think put it out of alignment).

I put up with it because I love my MIni (and even a faulty electronic roof is better than a manual one - nearly broke a finger on my MR2). Also find the dealer where I bought my Mini very unhelpful (took 4 goes to rectify the alignment problem) so it's not worth the hassle of complaining.

Anyone else??

yeah had it a few times, if it does this I tend to drop all the windows myself, then carry on with lowering the roof, then put all the windows up, this seems to clear and reset the system

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

the system needs to be re-initialized. A dealer can do this for you

we get the odd time where the drivers rear window does it's own thing and doesn't go up or down when it should, but it's seems to sort itself out now & then
