Does anyone else get a high pitched noise when the Interior air circulation button is on?

At first I though it happened in conjunction with my iPod but it happens anytime I use it. It will be quiet for the first minute or two and then kick in.

Is my MINI trying to warn me of lack of fresh air? Or is this a fault?

Sounds like a fault or some debris caught up in the vents and pipes somewhere. Definitely not normal.

Manual AC here - I have a very light high pitched whistle when recirc is on and airfeed is set to feet only (if I remember well) - but it's hardly noticeable..

Sounds like a similar problem i had.

Mine was the pollen filter cover had worked it way out of its clips.

Inside the car above the passengers feet. Have a look and feel and see if yours is loose too.

I have the same problem. When the interior air circulation button is on I get a high pitch noise but only when I reach a certain speed. I will try to check the pollen filter ....

iI had a similar issue of a growling noise. I appeared when air con was on. dealer mentioned at first that the MCS has several fans, anyway it didnt go away. Finally they replaced the Steering Fan? I think they called it and now no more noise.
