Clutch pedal hight

Can anyone tell me if the clutch pedal hight is lower than the brake pedal hight? Our Mini seems to be developing a sharp clutch and it can be difficult to get into 1st and 2nd gear. It seems as though the clutch pedal is getting lower, it is aprox 1" lower than the brake pedal and I am sure it was the same hight when we fist got the car.

Doesn't the Minis clutch operate via a slave cylinder? Just thinking it might be a leak or low fluid issue.

You can check the level yourself but bring it in for service. When the fluid gets real low, the clutch doesn't work, making it very difficult to start the car rolling along. Also makes it difficult to stop without panicing, the shifter won't want to come out of gear as easily. (This is spoken from experience on a previous car - I ended up replacing a slave cylinder.)
