Offline | Rear Wiper - Old vs. New The rear window wiper on my 2003 MC developed a grinding noise. Took it in and the dealer replaced it with a new wiper under warranty. Wow, what a difference! Not only does it no longer sound like it is about to tear itself apart, but the spray pattern is significantly better. The old wiper had the sprayer mounted on the wiper arm, while the new sprayer is mounted at the rotation point (spraying straight up). For those of you with '02 and '03 MINI's in the US, I recommend looking into new rear wipers as you can now have thoroughly clean rear windows!. Cheers! |

Offline | Really? I had an '02 MCS and after a little bit of adjustment I had the spray pattern covering the full length of the blade and the full area of glass. From the moment the blade started moving I had water all along it so that I was never dragging a dry blade, with all of it's accumulated grit, across the glass. I was very happy with the original system. The new system does not allow you to wet the blade before it starts moving and it has me concerned about scratching the glass. I also do not see the need to wet the underside of the spoiler whenever I activate the rear washer. The new washer jet does not appear to be adjustable, short of physically bending it. That just doesn't appeal to me, with my luck it will just snap off. Time will tell I suppose, but I liked the original system better. Motor on, Dudes and Dudettes!!! Offline | I have an '06 with the "new" style washer jet that does exactly as you say by giving a bath to the spoiler and concur that I don't care much for that either. As for being able to adjust it, you can adjust the nozzle to a degree as it's in sort of a ball socket but you will not likely be able to adjust it to pre-moisten the window and wiper blade prior to engaging the cleaning feature. Fortunately mine hasn't spent enough time dirty in order to require using the window washers. |

Offline | Wow! I guessed I missed the boat on that one. However I was never able to effectively adjust the old system... there was always dry glass on some part. I must have have been going about it the wrong way. |

Offline | new wiper arm recently i had the motor and arm replaced on my 2004 cooper. I must say I liked the look and how the original arm sprayed as the arm went across the window. The new arm looks cheaper and sprays straight up. |
