Warranty items - fixed *outside* warranty?

Hi all,
My Jan 2002 build Cooper has a few problems which I think should have been fixed under warranty. The ones I can think of are:
  1. Car pulls to the left. Appears to have "old" suspension struts on it still
  2. Cowl vents. Still have foam ones that are disintegrating
  3. Central locking BC1 module? Not sure if this was sorted under warranty, but I think some of the original ones were placed in such a way that they got rained on?
  4. Badly fitting windscreen. Causes whistling when getting past about 20mph
...and probably much more besides! Certainly, points 1 and 2 should have been done. The other two, i'm not sure if they were actually sorted under warranty.

So, anyway, my warranty has expired, but surely these items should have been sorted whilst the car was in warranty. Has anyone put a claim into BMW to have these things sorted outside of the warranty?

Sorry, but I think you will be pushing your luck a bit expecting Mini to fix these things now. Mini will only fix problems under warranty if you alert them of the problems during the warranty period and your warranty expired over a year ago. If you did mention these problems during the warranty period and they were not fixed properly at the time, then you may have a case. Good luck.

Hi,
I only bought the car a couple of months ago, so didn't own it whilst it was in warranty.

I suppose my thinking on these problems is that if Mini accepted they were issues and sorted them under warranty, they should still honour them outside the warranty? I believe there is a similar point in UK law actually...

if any of these faults were subject to a recall then yes they should still do it- if not I doubt you will get much joy but if you dont ask you dont get I suppose.

Yep, I guess so. It seems a bit odd that having lots of cars pulling (strongly in my case) to the left, wasn't a safety recall. I've had the tracking and tyres checked, which came back clear.

Guess if it was pulling to the right (in the UK), that might be a different matter.
