Replacing reverse light, HELP

It appears that I need to replace the reverse light on my 2002 Mini One. I bought the correct bulbs but the problem is, I can't find out how to remove the old bulb and fit the new one. I don't seem to be able to locate the back of the socket.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

Well in theory, if you feel behind the rear bumper you should feel the reversing light. You need to push in the retaining clips at either end of the light assembly and the whole assembly should then push out. The bulb can then be changed.

i had the same problem with my mini one (2002) and rang the dealer for help. I originally thought it may be just the bulb that needed changing - but couldnt find where to get to the bulbs also ... however after ringing the dealer i took mine in because they said the switch might have gone. After taking it in they had said it was the switch that was faulty and replaced it.

Hopefully yours will be a straight swap .. capsaisin seems to have the right idea.

You dont need to remove the lamp, the bulb holder just twists out.

This theory worked in practice for me. Takes a little effort but not too difficult.
I put in a halogen 35W 796 ba15s bulb that's about twice as bright as the stock P21W bulb,
but not powerful enough to melt the housing or wiring or BC1.
You can't use these for the brake or fog or turn signal light, however, because they light up
a little slower than a standard bulb
