Offline | Aircon not working & noises I have recently bought a MCS. Took it into the dealer today for a bit of warranty work, power steering pump fan bearing gone, handbrake adjust, etc. Anyway, the air con has been noticably warm as well as a gurguling sound whenever the aircon is on from under the passenger footwell. I have searched this problem on the forum but not really found any answers. I asked the dealer to look at it and have been told that it may be a leak or could just need a refill. This is the problem, a regas from an independant specialist = about £40-60. BMW want £100 to do this, though will pay it if there is a leak but apparently can't check this without a regas. Does this sound fair? What are the general opinions, should I go for a private regas and hope it's not a problem with the system or a more expensive BMW regas and hope it is a problem, so I don't have to pay for it haha! Still I guess if I go for BMW I get a courtesy car which today was a brand new 320d, not bad. Thoughts please. |

Offline | my aircon, in my 4 year old mini, was gurgling for ages, then the aircon light flashed whenever I tried to put it on and it would not come on. I took it to a garage, not BMW, can't afford their prices, they said it would be £50 for a standard refill or £100 for a refill with dye, so they can check for leaks. I presumed there was a leak, i always think the worst where my mini is concerned, so went for the most expensive dye check, the air con has been fine ever since, wished I hadn't bothered with the more expensive option. If your car is getting on a bit I would just presume the gas has run out and get it filled for cheap. |

Offline | The car is only 2 years old and still under warranty which is why I think they should check it for leaks but this is obviously not the case. The £100 is for dye check from BMW, but your noises sound the same as mine so perhaps all it needs is a refill. |

Offline | Thanks for that Malin, time to drop it back to the dealers and hope they don't charge me for the £100 as it should be a fault and therefore under warranty. I'll update and let you know what they say once its been in. |
