Offline | Strangle whistling noise after fitting JCW Intake A short while back, I had my dealer fit the JCW Air Intake and JCW exhaust. When I got the car back, I immediately noticed that there was an odd, irregular high pitched whistling type noise emanating from the engine compartment when I have the throttle partially depressed at around 2K-3.5K RPM. To my untrained ear, it sounds like a vacuum leak type of sound. The service dept had a look at it, and is telling me that this noise is "normal for the JCW airbox". I know at least one full JCW that does not make this annoying noise. On top of that, I think it is getting worse. My MCS has the steptronic transmission, and he has about 11K kms on him. Has anyone else run into this, or have any useful insights? ![]() ![]() www.MINICalgary.com |

Offline | I read an interesting post on NAM, where NewYorkCityMini had an identical problem after having the JCW intake fitted. North American Motoring - View Single Post - MCSa related issues Full thread here: MINI COOPER :: North American Motoring - MCSa related issues I've made an appointment at the dealer's next week to try and fit a new throttle body. I'll post on whether or not the "dentist's drill" option is removed from my car. ![]() www.MINICalgary.com |

Offline | Good news! I had the car in for service this week, and just got it back yesterday. The dealer replaced the throttle body, and the sound is gone! Well, not totally gone, if I listen really hard it is still somewhat there, but it certainly is a lot better than what it was. Good job MINI Crowfoot! ![]() www.MINICalgary.com |
