Offline | boot is leaking water Hi, i have a pretty bad leak in my boot! First noticed it when i looked in my rear view mirror a few weeks ago when it was pouring and saw it dripping in from the top onto the rear parcel shelf. When it stopped raining i had a good look around the tool kit area too and the carpet was wet on both sides so im a little confused about where its coming in. The area it seems to drip in from is just to the right of the top brake light . Any ideas? Its a 4 year old mini one so the warrenty is out> im thinking my best bet is to take it to my local dealer but what are they gonna charge. Thanks. UPDATE: It was the seal around the high vis brake light- thanks tnoy. And would you believe you cannot buy the seal on its own! Last edited by MrLee2006 : Sep 16th, 2006 at 06:31 PM. Reason: update for future ref# |

Offline | More than likely, it's the brake light seal at the top that's gone. Not sure if you can get just a seal or you'll need a new light If it's a full light you need, keep an eye on ebay if you can cope for a bit, or check the sponsors listed on here for their prices, got to be cheaper than your dealer It's an easy diy job. There's a few threads about this on the site, a quick search should find them ![]() |

Offline | Leaking Boot - Help !! Hi, I have a mini convertible 2004 plate and noted the carpet was wet. Took it to the dealer (as its still under warranty) and they changed the rear lights and said all should be fine now - this was about a week ago. Guess what - the boot carpet is soaking wet - the car is booked back in - do we know why this is happening. ![]() |

Offline | Brake light seal is usually the culprit on pre 2007 cars. On the convertible I have no idea, but i'd guess at a hood leak or boot seal as the only explanations ![]() |
