Harmon-Kardon Radio Powering Off?

We've begun noticing that the radio is powering off for no apparent reason... has the iPod kit.

Is this some sort of feature that I haven't figured out how to disable yet?

Or have I got a defective H-K system?

Is it the radio or the AUX mode (Ipod) that cuts out?
If it is the Radio mode nevermind the rest of this.

If it is the AUX mode is your Ipod plugged into the 12V socket?

There is a common issue with a ground loop cutting out the AUX. Do a search for "ground loop isolation" on these boards for way more info.

You either need a $18 Radio Shack part or don't charge the Ipod while listening.

Does it turn off after 20 minutes?
If so it's an error in the wiring to the head unit!

I had a look at the fuses... #10 (5Amp) was blown. Might have happened as a result of the dealer installing the iPod adaptor.

Replaced the fuse but haven't had a chance to test the radio/CD while driving but will tonight. Before replacing the fuse the radio turned off after 20 minutes even while the car was running.

4-Hour Test Drive produced no anomolies with radio/iPod/... must have been the #10 fuse. I wonder if the the installation method for the iPOod kit produces the blown fuse.

I've had this problem with my Alpine head unit too. Also it's occasionally coupled with my trip meter resetting itself to zero although my clock maintains the correct time. Any ideas?

There's a separate forum for the R56 "second gen" MINI

I notice that the times when this happens is just as i've turned off my ignition and i get a rapid clicking noise from somewhere behind the dashboard (its a similar sound to a moisy elec fuel pump altho it's obviously not this!). This is sometimes accompanied by the doors not automatically unlocking when the keys are removed.
