Offline | Gearbox Price request Hello Scott You didn't say what kind of gearbox. Standard or CVT? I've got a blown 2002 CVT and they're saying somewhere north of 7000.00 US for a new one. No one fixes them and even parts are hard to find. The Bentley Repair manual only talks about external service (as far as I can tell from their advert. I don't have the manual yet) Why are you looking for one? Trouble, or do you just want to switch to or from a manual? |

![]() Obsessive Car Cleaner OCC | TBH im not sure what gearbox it is, its in the garage now and awaiting the acceptence of the warrenty to go ahead with the work but its not a TLC warrenty so i will still have to pay out some money as im only covered for 1000GBP so i might have to source a gearbox for myself if i can get it cheaper than the garage! 7 thousand US thats a bit steep is it not? |

Offline | Gearbox Price request The 7000.00 is a pretty soild quote from various shops and transmission places. That's almost one third of what I paid for the entire car when I bought it new. I have been Mini-less since August when the transmission quit. I was hoping you had a automatic that you were wanting to trade out for a 6 speed. My finances don't include 7k for a transmission at the moment so I'm hoping to find a car that's been rolled over or otherwise totaled with the possibility of buying a used transmission. Because the car is relatively new in the U.S. , there are not too many that have gone to the wreckers. There are also no transmission repair shops that I've found yet who will even attempt to repair mine. They all say that it's a dealer repair only. The dealers don't even repair them from what I've been able to discover. They only swap a new one in. Hence the 7k price tag. I urge anyone who has a CVT automatic to be VERY vigilant with servicing it. |
