Offline | Help needed - Engine Gubbed due to water intake I recently travelled home in torrential rain, when the engine stopped. I have been told by BMW I am not covered by warranty and that I need a new engine. Has anyone out there ever experienced the same problem. Oh and just for your info Ive only had the car just over a week (53 plate) ![]() |

| Trained Monkey | Just moved this to our "faults and fixes" forum for you. There have been reports of MINIs being drowned in puddles etc, until you get a direct response I suggest you search (http://www.mini2.com/forum/search.php) the faults and fixes forum for things like water flooding etc. |

| I miss my MINI | There have been a few people out here complaining about the hydralock of the engine. Unfortunetly I don't know of a single person that actually got MINI/BMW to pickup the entire tab. Most that I have read had to replace the engine.... Did you drive through a deep puddle during the drive? Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | It was more excess surface water than a puddle, I have just joined this site and have started to look through other threats and it looks as though I may have to fork out on a new engine, just what I need before xmas and after buying it last week. Thanks for taking the time out to reply Kirsten. |

| I miss my MINI | When you speak to the dealer, talk with them to see if they can help out. Also, what about insurance, will it cover this? I know a of people that got half of price knocked off so it does pay to complain. Either way, I am sorry to hear about your misfortune. ![]() Global Moderator ![]() |
