Offline | Smashed Driver's Window -- Cost? Some serial vandal smashed my driver's-side window last night, and took a few things. I leave the car nearly empty, and what's not is hidden from view, but he still tried. I lost my Owner's Manual, a MINI CD case (forget which CD's were inside <g>), and a bluetooth headset (missing its AC adapter! )... and my cherished MINI baseball cap. I found the owner's manual on the street, but not the nice folder it comes in. He LEFT my iPOD dock, which is the only thing that was in plain view [empty]. Very odd.[Especially for U.S. MINI owners:] For those that this has happened to, did you: a) did you have MINI replace the window b) have an auto glass agency replace the window What was the cost? I've cleaned up the glass with a shop vac (except for that which now lives inside the door. I have a $250 deductible on my Ins. Will the glass replacement cost more or less than that? THIS SUX!!!!! Thanks. David |

| I miss my MINI | darex, Sorry to hear about your misfortune. ![]() All your questions depend on one another. Personally I would avoid using insurance as a claim will only increase your rates. Not worth it.... On my Ford Escort I bought a drivers side piece of glass for $110 but this was via a friend. If you have a junk yard in the area, you might try there. (if you live in a high mini area) or contact a few glass shops to see what they say. Going to a dealer would be expensive. Good luck... Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | Do you think "anyone" who does auto glass can install the window, or is there something special about MINI's and their doors such that only those familiar with MINI's should do the replacement? Thanks. David |
