First brake fluid change and some other things

My car went to the dealers during the week to get some work done. My passenger xenon is playing up some times and my engine mount is leaking. I also have a rattle on the car witch they told me is the exhaust rattling in the middle of the car but can't do anything about it cause it is aftermarket, but I am ok about that.

The thing is with the engine mount I showed the Tec the oil stain around the mount and he said he will take a look at it. So I went home and got a phone call from the dealer to say my car is due its first break fluid change and they will do it seeing as they have the car in the workshop. When I got to the dealers the collect my car they told me that the passenger xenon on their system was not working but it turns on. (It used to flicker really fast and send my windscreen wipers crazy)

They said that they steam cleaned the oil around the engine mount and will look at it when the car goes back in in two weeks time for two days to get the xenon sorted. Now that the break fluid has been changed the breaks don't feel as sharp as they were before. Oh and I was told that I had slight gearbox noise but they will leave it cause the chances it could get worse if they change anything. I didn't even know it was making a noise.

As a matter of interest, do you have auto lights on as I have a theory that auto lights on can lead to premature failure of Xenons

The problem with auto lights on is that it switches the lights on and off far more often than would happen if you switched them on and off manually. My MINI handbook says " The operating life of these units is extremely long....provided they are not switched on and off a great number of times".

Also we have a 2005 Range Rover with Bi-Xenons which has just suffered a failure similar to the one you describe on your MINI. The RR has auto lights on and has had to have both headlight replaced because of "igniter failure" The RR is garaged and every time it is got out or put away the lights go on and off.

My theory is that auto lights on causes premature failure of Xenons and is best not used in combination with them.

My car is going to the dealers again tomorrow for two days to see whats happening with my xenon headlight. So hopefully they will sort it out by replacing the headlight or BCM and replace my engine mount this time and not steam clean the oil away.

I also asked for a mini as a courtesy car so I'll see what I will get. I know it will be brand new cause they have only just got them in. I'm hoping for the new MCS but I think it will be a convertable, I'm not to bothered witch one I get as long as I get my mini back all fixed and working.

I'm not happy at all. I got my car back today from the dealers. They told me that the BCM was replaced to fix the light problem and when I was driving home with my lights on the light was flickering and the windscreen wipers were going up the screen. So I'm going back to the dealers on my birthday tomorrow to show them is not fixed.
