Online | Wet back seats The last couple of times I've washed the MINI, I've noticed that the backs of the back seats are wet. It's about 10cm or so either side of the 50:50 split, and is obviously starting at the top, as it tapers off as it works its way down. I can't feel any wet bits for the source, and I don't see it dripping in anywhere. Has anyone come across this, or any ideas where it's coming from, as it's leaving pretty unsightly tide marks all down the seats, and is a problem I obviously don't want getting any worse... |

Offline | have you checked all the boot seals have not come loose or off where they normally sit? The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive? ![]() |

Online | Don't see that the dealer would be able to find the source of the leak if I can't No Rakey, haven't checked boot seals. Should actually get someone to sit in the back seat next time I'm washing it to see if the source is any more evident. It just seemed a bit odd that there doesn't appear to be any other wet bits apart from on the seats. Surely the parcel shelf or roof lining would be damp or wet too?! Will hopefully get a moment to check the seals over the weekend. Bit of a pain ![]() |

Offline | I see you have a sunroof. Maybe it hasn't sealed properly the last time it was shut? That might be more likely than the boot seals. But all are worth a check. As you suggest, get someone to sit in the back to check for dripping water while you use a hose jet on the sunroof, around the boot and maybe the aerial. ![]() |

Offline | My 03 MCS had a similar problem recently, turned out the seal on the high level brake light had failed. My dealer let on that this was not the first car that had suffered this problem either. Sadly my warranty was up and BMW customer care did not feel that they should contribute as the extended warranty has a £100 excess and as the cost of replacement including fitting was about £70 plus VAT owners with warranty cover would also have to pay in full. |
