Offline | ECU Faults/Mini Cherished Warranty Morning All, My One is about 3 weeks from the expiry of it's 'Cherished' Warranty. I've taken out the TLC XL package and recently had the MOT and Inspection II service. I had them do some warranty work and they replaced the drivers seat as a goodwill gesture due to it being collapsed by the previous owners huge buttocks. However - I've had some idle issues - basically, at traffic lights the One revs close to 2500rpm on occasion and when I blip the throttle it will level out (albeit slowly). During the service they reset the software and it has not done it since (only driven about 10 miles though) but they have stated that ECU work is NOT COVERED under the Cherished Warranty. Is this true? Has anyone else found anything similar to this problem? The service and remapping has changed the drive of the car considerably but I am now becoming nervous about the blessed thing going wrong! I only do about 5,000 miles a year but I have started looking at a replacement - something that I can ill afford! Any help would be much appreciated. Louis III |

Offline | It should be. If the car has a fault...where its hunting or performing incorrectly that can cause damage to the engine in extreme circumstances. I had my DME reflashed due to my traction not being at the right level of cut-in and it cost £30 so the cost should not be that if it was an actual fault rather than a personal preference. |

Offline | It is weird that they said that they wouldn't cover it (especially that they have already put a new box on the exhaust for me and given me the new seat (which wasn't covered). I hope it won't go wrong - I am wondering if the service might have sorted it out anyway. There might be other reasons for the idle issue anyway - I am no mechanic! Any thoughts? |

Offline | Basically if they fixed a reported fault within the warranty period it should be free. You should insist that the matter be taken up with BMW, the dealers might back down. The ECU programme is not a wear and tear item!! ![]() |
