Offline | Rear Brakes My car has now covered 41,000 miles. The rear brake pads were replaced at 25,000 miles. The car is still on the original front brake pads, and front and rear discs. I'm told the rear brake pads need replacing again! I'm happy with the mileage covered before replacements, but I find it odd that I'm through two sets of rear brake pads before the front pads and discs, and the rear discs? Not being completely familiar with the electronics systems, is it possible to have an overactive EBD system causing more aggressive rear braking? Has anyone else experienced this problem? ![]() |

Offline | Mini Brake Pads/Discs Expensive day all round. Not only has the alternator & power steering pump failed at the same time.(the dealer apparently never heard of this happening before) Strangely the battery has also been wiped out, which implies the alternator may have overcharged & took everything out. I would love an understanding Mini dealer to explain. the rear pads/discs/ callipers need replacing. The front pads & discs also need replacing which is strange. The car has done 58k & never needed brake pads ( one careful lady driver). The discs have actually corroded away, and the rear callipers are not releasing, which is probably your problem. The dealer is totally unsympathetic and said I should have bought extended warranty & at £84.00 an hour labour rate, they are having a field day. Having been a VW workshop controller previously, I can't believe the difference in how a Mini dealer handles its customers, than again the mini is a low earner for BMW dealers. Rant over, anyone got MINI customer services number in the UK? |
