Offline | with a new manifold fitted, if it is a performance one, and it works, more air flow is produced via the exhaust, this causes the o2 sensor to think there is a fault in the cat as the flow exceeds the factory limit, the same is true if the sensor detects too little flow and the light comes on to tell you the cat is blocked/faulty |

Offline | It will either go off on its own or you can reset the ECU and re-teach it on the new manifold. There a how to on ECU reset either here or NAM or motoringfile. |

Offline | I am no expert in MINI O2 sensors, but my experience with other cars, including my current XJ6 with 4 O2 sensors and four converters tells me that these sensors do not monitor gas flow, only O2 content in the flow. The only sensor I know of that could detect an exhaust restriction is a manifiold absolute pressure sensor, but the MINI does not have one. It is possible that the problem you are having may be related to a gasket leak or other mainfold leak either in the intake or exhaust, which will contaminate the airstream and trigger a fuel trim problem, possibly setting off the light. |
