Offline | Could be a punctured radiator. Check for leaking under the car. Oh and keep a close eye on your temperature gauge ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime ![]() ![]() Unofficial MINI2.com bean counter |

Offline | Hissing sound from your engine.... Alexcroft, it could either be a punctured radiator or they fitted a wrong radiator cap on your car. If the radiator cap is not seated properly or the relief spring is too weak, pressure is released prematurely when the engine heats up to operating temperature. This causes the hissing sound you hear. Another possibility is of course a pressure leak due to a loose connection somewhere in the cooling system. Offline | If you hear the hissing when the engine is cold, then it is probably a vacuum leak. It could be a loose hose or even a bad intake manifold gasket. To find the source, use an old mechanic's trick. Take a piece of plastic tubing about two feet long, hold one end against your ear and move the other end around the engine until you isolate the hiss. |
