Question Dragon snort or not?

It has been quite rainy and a bit cold in the twin cities this week.

Today it was pretty much raining all day. Around 4pm , it stopped raining. I take a short drive from the coffee shop to the subway, and I realize now steam's coming out of the engine scoop.

Pop open the hood, and don't see anything strange. Temperature is perfect. I drive it home, still steamin'.

I check the oil, and yes, it needs some topping up, and I find some oil-like substance(not sure if it IS oil) on the litle cup area inside the nut thing on the oil filter cover. It needs some topping up of oil.

The smell? Smells like nothing at all. Not like oil, etc. I dripped some fresh CHF on a piece of cardboard, to compare it against the cardboard I slid underneath the car, and they don't seem similar(not green enough).

Is this the evaporation "dragon snort" everyone mentions? Either way, the Spitfire's going into emergency service to get some synthetic for said MCS.

Just curious...

Did you/do you use aircon? Water/fluid under the car often comes from the aircon unit.

As Paul said, it sounds like the fluid under the car is from the condensation of the AC. The steam that you are seeing is probably the "Dragon Snort" as it sounds like you had good conditions for it.
