Just to let you all know a rejection has just been accepted on our brand new lightning blue cabrio.

The car was built May/June 2007 and was a June delivery.

The paintwork was defective in that there wasn't an even coat of primer/undercoat so there was a 'blooming' effect to the paintwork...light and dark patches all over.

It is only really visible in bright light looking at it from a shallow angle.

Worth checking if you have just taken delivery.

MINI UK are aware of the problem.

In general, there seems to be a lot of dodgy paint jobs recently.

Thought I'd bring thisto the top of the pile again for all potential and current owners to view. We have now had TWO rejections accepted on lightning blue cabrios. One was a May build and the other a July build. Please check your paintwork very carefully when picking up. The problem manifests itself as a two tone mottled effect in bright sunlight as if looking at the car with the sun behind you shining through the foliage of a tree.

Once is 'acceptable' but twice is ridiculous.

Be aware. MINI do know about the paint problem
